Town Hall – ISEE: Past and Present, and Its Role in Environmental and Public Health Advocacy
Date: August 28, 2024
Time: 12:45-14:15
Hall: San Cristobal B
ISEE has encountered challenging situations to consider responding to Society Statements, and this town hall is an invitation to all members to come together as one community and openly discuss and review this process with input from everyone and acknowledging everyoneβs perspective. These situations were partly related to statements about wars and its public health impact (including Gaza and Ukraine), issues of disparity of perspectives between the Global South and Global North, young junior and senior members, science versus advocacy, and other concerns. Another pressing issue is ISEE members working on advocacy that put them at risk. How do we make sure that ISEE is a safe and inclusive home for important public health policy work for all its members? This panel discussion marks a first step in addressing how ISEE can improve and represent all voices in the important role of public health advocacy. We invite you to be part of this panel during the lunchtime period on the 3rd day. This event is currently supported by the leaderships of the Students and New Researchers Network (SNRN), Ethics and Philosophy Committee (EPC), the Policy Committee (PC), the Eastern Mediterranean Chapter (EMC), The North America Chapter (NAC), The Latin America Chapter (LAC), the Asia and Western Pacific Chapter (AWPC), and the Africa Chapter (AC).
