Stella M. Hartinger

Prof Stella Hartinger is an Associate Professor at Cayetano Heredia University in Peru. She is an environmental health specialist with a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Basel and Master’s Degree in Environmental Health, Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.

She leads the Unit for Environmental Development, Health and Environment and co-directs CLIMA, the Center for Latin-American Research on Climate Change and Health. Her topics of interest are Environment, Environmental impact assessment, Child development, Air pollution, Indoor air quality, Climate change. She has vast experience in randomized health interventions addressing environmental health problems, and studies generating knowledge about climate change and health in Peru.

Her work in the field of climate change has been recognised internationally. She has authored five reports in The Lancet Countdown and is currently the Director of Lancet Countdown Latin America.

Her research in the area of environmental health has been recognised with more than 70 publications in mainstream journals contributing valuable information to the scientific community. Her leadership in directing postgraduate academic programmes, research projects and team building with younger researchers has led to a collective advancement of knowledge in environmental health. She is a reference in the field of climate change at a global and Latin American level.
